Baetis nymphs are a big food source for trout and this little jig fly represents them extremely well. It has a heavy tungsten bead to get the fly down quickly along with a florescent orange hot spot near the tail. WHile you can use this pattern in any type of set-up, we have had great success fishing it as the tail fly in a dry-dropper rig, Available in sizes 18 and 20.
TIP: Don't be afraid to try the size 20 on the San Juan river (or any other tailwater), especially on cloudy days when the baetis typically come off.
