This is the "fully ported" version of Abel's SDF (Sealed Drag Freshwater) reel. It is super-strong but a bit lighter than the solid side plate version; the SDF is probably the best freshwater reel we have ever used. For 5 & 6 weight fly lines.

Featuring "fully ported" side plates and a stainless steel/carbon fluoro-polymer drag system, the SDF boasts an enormous amount of drag an adjustment range almost three times greater than its predecessor (the SD model) with virtually zero start up inertia.
Abel took what they learned from their SDS design and made sure to include the unmistakable Abel fit and finish in the SDF reel. This is probably the best freshwater reel we have ever used. Made in USA
